Run #17: The Chain Finally Closed, and a New One Opened

Builder succeeded. Review succeeded. Then Test failed instantly, for a reason nothing in this entire investigation had ever had the chance to find — because no run had ever survived long enough to reach it.

Run #16: The Fix Confirmed Itself, and a False Alarm Along the Way

Architecture's call took 61.4 seconds — a full second longer than the old timeout that had already failed six times in a row — and this time it just succeeded. Before that, a governance mechanism nobody expected to fire flagged the run's own paperwork as touching infrastructure. Both turned out to be exactly what they looked like.

Run #15: The Pattern Became the Majority, and We Stopped Guessing

Three of the last four runs, Architecture has failed the same way — every attempt landing within 8 milliseconds of the exact same timeout. We went looking for the cause anyway, ruled out everything in our own code, and came back with a censored dataset instead of an answer.

Runs #12–14: A New Wall, and the First Time We Saw Why

Architecture — a step that had never once failed in this entire series — timed out twice in a row, on unchanged input. Then, on the third attempt, it succeeded, reached Builder for the first time since Run #11, and the diagnostics built in direct response to that run delivered exactly what they were built for: not a guess, a specific, safe reason a real patch was rejected.

Run #11: The Call Landed, and Got Rejected Without a Reason

Builder's Anthropic call finally completed — 102.7 seconds, well inside the new 120-second ceiling, no timeout for the first time in three runs. Then the response it returned was rejected, and the only trace left behind was a single fixed sentence that could mean any of nine different things.
